In the Belgian Grand Prix, George Russell was disqualified after his Mercedes was found underweight at the end of the race. This decision reshuffled the podium, with teammate Lewis Hamilton taking the win ahead of Oscar Piastri, while Charles Leclerc finished third with Ferrari. Russell had initially won the race with a one-stop strategy, keeping the hard tires until the checkered flag and staying ahead of Hamilton by just half a second. However, a technical delegate’s report revealed that, although the car initially met the minimum weight of 798 kg, 2.8 liters of fuel were later removed. The report stated that the car was not completely drained according to the procedure outlined in article 6.5.2 of the TR.
