Roadshow di Alstom contro la violenza di genere
“We are pleased to celebrate at the Alstom headquarters in Rome the final of the 9 conferences and exhibitions against gender-based violence. ISTAT data in Italy shows that over 30% of women have experienced some form of physical or sexual violence in their lifetime,” stated Michele Viale, General Manager of Alstom Italy and President and CEO of Alstom Ferroviaria, continuing, “In this scenario, Alstom has launched a concrete project involving all the communities in which it operates in Italy, to sensitize its people through the language of art and at the same time provide the necessary tools to act against all forms of violence, becoming a spokesperson within its network of relationships; gender-based violence is a violation of fundamental human rights that can only be stopped through the timely intervention of each of us and the collaboration between Institutions and law enforcement. We hope that this project will bring forward a wave of change, inspiring Society, Institutions, politics, and citizens and fostering an increasingly widespread civil consciousness.”
“The exhibition consists of twenty dolls representing different roles, each interpreting a character and telling their story: the story of all of us, children, teenagers, women who, over time, have animated and continue to animate the scene, writing the history of their country of origin and in some cases the world,” said artist Monica Pirone, adding, “It is essential to be aware of the ongoing tragedies to take charge of injustices that cannot be accepted, to find solutions. Every place is the right place to talk about it; art has the duty to step out of Museums and galleries and make form a useful narrative to society, a crucial contribution to imagine a different world where women can have equal opportunities, equal rights that make them free to design their lives.”
Over the years, Alstom has promoted several projects aimed at fostering cultural changes. It has prioritized crucial aspects of Diversity and Inclusion, including gender equality, gender identity, and social inclusion, by activating partnerships with associations and organizations. These collaborations actively support the path towards an increasingly inclusive culture. Among the programs promoted within Alstom is the possibility of offering victims of violence transfers to other Group locations. Alstom also adheres to Valore D, the Italian association dedicated to enhancing female talents, and collaborates with projects like “Inspiring Girls,” aimed at valuing gender differences and inclusion. Within the company, every employee also has an Alert system to highlight cases of ethical code violation, including harassment, discrimination, or any form of violence experienced within the company.
