The Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma – Starhotels collection: a restoration of timeless elegance
The Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma – Starhotels Collection reopens its doors to guests today, Friday, September 27th, following an extraordinary renovation that has restored the hotel to its authentic splendor, enriched with luxury and contemporary comforts thanks to the contribution of Italian master craftsmen.
Originally built as a private residence for guests of Palazzo Torlonia, located directly opposite, the hotel has been a refuge for the international elite since its transformation into a hotel in the mid-19th century, thanks to its innate elegance and magnificent location just a few steps away from Piazza di Spagna and Via Condotti.
After an extensive renovation of the historically protected facade, the rooms and suites, the Cafè Romano restaurant, and the intimate lounges that have welcomed artists, writers, and travelers from around the world for centuries, the Hotel d’Inghilterra returns to the city as a restored gem in its original splendor.
The project was overseen by the Group’s design team, led in all stages of work by Elisabetta Fabri, President and CEO of Starhotels, in full respect of the hotel’s extraordinary heritage. This meticulous approach also involved the preservation of historical architectural elements, as well as the restoration of precious antique furniture and furnishings. To bring back the timeless elegance of the hotel, the spaces have been redesigned inspired by the atmospheres that captivated travelers during the Grand Tour era.
Skilled craftsmen were involved in the renovation, as part of the “La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory” initiative, a contemporary patronage project created by Starhotels to support Italian savoir-faire. Master craftsmen have given the Hotel d’Inghilterra a new authentic splendor, seamlessly integrating touches of Made in Italy design.
Like in a welcoming home, the rooms and suites – reduced from 84 to 80 to provide more space for luxurious interiors – each boast a distinct character and design. The furnishings alternate between ancient pieces from the hotel’s collection, finely restored, and creations of contemporary high craftsmanship, giving the hotel a new authenticity.
The renowned Cafè Romano restaurant, expanded and transformed into a true Roman lounge for convivial moments, will unveil a renewed gastronomic experience in the coming weeks.
