Summer 2024: Vacanze Sci & Rio Pusteria Area Confirmed as the Exclusive Retreat for Families and Bologna Calcio FC 1909
Rio di Pusteria (BZ), July 2024 – The Vacanze Sci & Malghe Rio Pusteria Area is a corner of South Tyrol where everyone can experience their ideal vacation, a territory that has preserved tradition and charm and includes eight locations: Rio di Pusteria, Maranza, Valles, Val di Fundres with Vallarga, Rodengo, Spinga, Terento, and Vandoies. An unspoiled oasis with towering peaks and vast expanses of greenery, dotted with alpine huts and picturesque villages. This summer, the Rio Pusteria area offers numerous proposals, from new adventure trails to nature-immersed play areas to the opportunity to closely observe Bologna Calcio FC 1909’s training sessions, which have chosen this location for their summer retreat. Additionally, there are numerous refuges like Gitschhütte where you can taste the local dishes made with high-quality and locally sourced ingredients.

GITSCHHÜTTE REFUGE, THE IDEAL HIGH-ALTITUDE GATHERING PLACE FOR ALL This summer brings an unmissable novelty for all guests of the Vacanze Sci & Malghe Rio Pusteria Area: the Gitschberg chairlift will be open for the first time in summer from July 13 to September 15! Built in 1998, this lift system with vehicles that can carry up to four people reaches the Gitschberg panoramic platform at 2,512 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of over 500 peaks, from the Dolomites to the Isarco Valley and Austria. The circular structure of the platform, with the railing displaying the names of the visible mountains, and a telescope for a close-up view of the peaks, make it a must-visit for summer hikers and winter skiers. Not far from the panoramic platform is the Gitschhütte refuge, founded in 1971, which has welcomed generations of hikers and mountain lovers, offering them a warm welcome and authentic South Tyrolean culinary delights prepared with high-quality and locally sourced ingredients. Among the delicacies you can taste are mountain cheeses, speck, apple strudel, and local meats, making each visit an authentic gastronomic experience. Easily accessible from Maranza through various trails, the Gitschberg cable car and chairlift, Gitschhütte is the perfect meeting point for those looking to relax at high altitudes. Between the mountain station of the Nessel cable car and Gitschhütte lies the Gitschberg Sun Park, recently renovated with an investment of half a million euros, offering a magical and fun setting for the whole family. The park features four new giant slides, including one located behind the Nesselhütte refuge, and a double parallel slide for competitions. Additionally, there is a climbing tower to access the slides, expanded sun loungers and sunbed areas, and a pendulum carousel. This place guarantees fun and relaxation for everyone, with a series of themed games like the Sun Bridge, a giant slide, and a human sundial, making each visit unique and special.
